Based in Sydney , Janet has worked for many different bands and musicians either live or in the studio and shared the running of the Wednesday Night Blues Jam at The Empire Hotel in Annandale .
Janet is also the regular entertainment every Tuesday night for Captain Cook Cruises' stunning Sydney Harbour dinner cruise on the MV Sydney 2000.
Initially a blues musician she has grown into her beloved jazz and is ever expanding her repertoire as well as regularly adding modern, contemporary, popular covers.
As a vocalist, Janet only discovered her voice around nine years ago. She had otherwise only thought of herself as a sax player. It was through necessity that Janet began to sing lead vocals. With a unique husky timber, her vocal style has become as much a trademark as her distinctive sax style, if not more so. Audiences delight in her performance, complimenting her approach of something new and different.
Her band "Janet Levy's Good Intentions" grew quickly, again through necessity. The band has become a popular return act to all new venues including The National Press Club in Canberra , The Crowne Plaza Resort - Hunter Valley and The Canberra Yacht Club. The band has seen many great players come and go, most returning when possible.
The Duo and Trio have grown over the last three years and are now polished acts of smooth Jazz and Blues with cover material as well...all delivered with an infectious sense of fun. This act also enjoys many return bookings with word of mouth promotion for private functions such as weddings & parties along with regular appearances in Sydney metropolitan hotels and Clubs
In 2004, Janet was a member of the band that represented the Sydney Blues Society in America . As winners of the SBS's "Performer of the Year " award, they went on to compete on the International Blues Challenge in Memphis , Tennessee .
